Red River Parish School District schools in Red River Parish experienced fall in student enrollment for 2021-22 school year

The only school district in Red River Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,313 students in the halls of Red River Parish School District schools, 5.7% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Red River Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.9% of them were boys, and 46.1% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 63.4% of the Red River Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Red River Parish School District has a main office in Coushatta and is the only school district within Red River Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
