Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 63.7% of Caddo Parish School District’s student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 22,189 Black students enrolled in Caddo Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.6% less than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Caddo Parish School District welcomed 34,850 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 63.7% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the district.

Caddo Parish School District roughly covers schools within Caddo Parish and has a main office in Shreveport.

Among the 66 schools in Caddo Parish School District, Turner Elementary Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 1,156 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021–22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
