James Lewis
On June 23rd, 2023, around 4:14 p.m. officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Hyundai Elantra at Interstate 49 and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle abruptly stopped, and the driver fled on foot into a wooded area. After a foot pursuit and struggle the driver was taken into custody. The driver was identified as James Lewis (5-6-57).
Lewis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, One count of reckless operation of a vehicle, and one count of resisting with force or violence.
No injuries were reported. We are required to remind you that suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
