United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown has announced the sentencing of Trevione James Terry, 26, from Houston, who was convicted in a jewelry store robbery case in Lake Charles. United States District Judge James D. Cain, Jr. sentenced Terry to 241 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

Terry confessed to his role in the robbery of Nederland Jewelers in Lake Charles on June 8, 2020, and Korman Fine Jewelry in Austin, Texas on May 7, 2020. He pleaded guilty on July 8, 2024, to charges of interference with commerce by robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence.

Court records reveal that on May 7, 2020, Terry and five others participated in an armed robbery at Korman Fine Jewelry in Austin. Terry waited outside the store while his accomplices entered wearing masks. One robber brandished a loaded firearm and ordered employees and customers to the floor. A security guard was shot during the incident. The robbers smashed display cases and stole several Rolex watches before being apprehended later.

On June 8, 2020, Terry and six co-conspirators traveled from Houston to Lake Charles intending to rob Nederland Jewelers. Armed with a handgun and hammers, they stole over 34 Rolex watches valued at more than $350,000. After fleeing the scene in a white Porsche, they met with Carey Nimmons and Johnson Moore at L’Auberge Casino.

Law enforcement tracked the suspects to Pryce Street in Lake Charles where Terry was found hiding with co-defendant Joshua Evans and a backpack containing stolen watches. Nimmons was located nearby along with Moore.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lake Charles Police Department, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Austin Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Vermaelen prosecuted the case with support from Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Devlin for related proceedings in Texas.
