This morning, Speaker Johnson appeared on two prominent Sunday shows, ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos and Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream. The discussions focused on the federal response to Hurricane Helene, support for Israel, and the importance of keeping the 2024 election centered on policy rather than politics.

Regarding the federal response to Hurricane Helene, Speaker Johnson criticized the government's handling of the situation. "At the federal level, this has been a massive failure," he stated. He highlighted his visits to Georgia and Florida and announced plans to visit North Carolina's hardest-hit areas. Johnson emphasized that despite advance warnings about hurricanes, many affected individuals in North Carolina remain unassisted. "It is a heartbreaking, tragic, and infuriating situation to have the federal government fail as they have," he said.

On FEMA funding related to housing illegal aliens, Johnson noted that while funding streams are separate, there is frustration among Americans over FEMA's involvement in resettling illegal immigrants instead of focusing solely on natural disasters. He criticized the Biden Administration's approach: "That's what the Biden Administration, Kamala Harris, and Secretary Mayorkas have been engaged in...The American people are disgusted by this."

Addressing the upcoming 2024 election, Johnson urged a focus on policy challenges facing America: "We have to talk about the greatest collection of challenges that this country is facing." He advocated for former President Donald J. Trump's return to office as a means of restoring stability and economic growth.

Johnson also commented on international relations under the current administration: "Everything that they have done...is project weakness on the world stage." He expressed concern over global tensions involving China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and ongoing conflicts like those in Israel. According to Johnson, reelecting Trump would help restore global order and peace through strength.
