To mark the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel by Hamas, Speaker Johnson has issued a statement and video. The attack resulted in significant loss of life and ongoing hostage situations.

Speaker Johnson reflected on the events, stating, "It's been 365 days since the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists carried out their barbaric attack on innocent Israelis in the worst assault on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Nearly 1,200 people were brutally killed, 251 were kidnapped, and countless others were beaten and raped."

He also highlighted that hostages remain captive in Gaza, including four Americans. "Today, as Hamas continues to hold hostages in Gaza... we remember the families who are fighting to bring their loved ones home," he said. He emphasized solidarity with these families and with Israel against terrorism.

Johnson mentioned legislative actions taken by Congress earlier this year to support Israel militarily. He stressed that it is crucial for American leaders to stand firmly with Israel amidst threats from Iran and Hezbollah. "Americans must insist that the Biden-Harris Administration stand unequivocally with Israel and against the terrorist regime in Iran," he stated.

The statement concludes with a call for peace and security for Israel.
