Caddo  Parish, LA - Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department and the Caddo  Parish Commission are “Taking it to the Streets” with a mobile pop up  and play and crime prevention program designed to promote physical  fitness and reduce crime within Caddo Parish inner city neighborhoods  and rural communities.  

The  “Taking it to the Streets” program will feature pilot sites that were  selected due to limited access to recreational opportunities and/or  “play deserts” (inner-city apartment/housing complexes, rural  towns/villages, and small subdivisions, etc.) or noted high crime  communities. 

“It  is a priority and mission within our department staff to find new and  innovative ways to deliver programs and services to our Caddo Parish  youth,” said Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Wesley.  “Taking it to the Streets” provides that platform and we are excited to  bridge the gap for many of our Parish’s youth,” said Wesley. 

Youth  participants will engage in a diverse slate of wholesome recreational  and fitness activities such as obstacle agility courses, jump rope  competitions, bounce houses / trampolines, sports skill and drill  activities (basketball, soccer, tee-ball), line dancing and dance  contests, Caddo Parish law enforcement/community relations activities as  well as other games and activities. 

Hydration  drinks and healthy snacks will be provided.  A law enforcement officer  will be on-site for all scheduled Taking it to the Streets events to  ensure all activities are safe, fun and enjoyable for all youth  attendees.
