WASHINGTON — Today, Speaker Johnson, along with House Republican leadership and Committee Chairs, announced a new House-wide effort to address antisemitism on college campuses and ensure universities are held accountable for protecting Jewish students.

“We will use all tools available to us to address this scourge,” stated Speaker Johnson during the press conference.

The effort will involve various committees within the House, including the Education and Workforce Committee, the Ways and Means Committee, the Energy and Commerce Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Oversight Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee.

Chairwoman Virginia Foxx of the Education and Workforce Committee emphasized the need for action, stating, “No stone must go unturned while buildings are being defaced...Actions have consequences.”

Science, Space and Technology Committee Chairman Frank Lucas highlighted the importance of universities fulfilling their funding obligations under the Civil Rights Act, stating, “It's time we review whether universities that allow the harassment, assault or intimidation of Jewish students are in compliance with their federal obligations.”

Energy and Commerce Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers discussed increasing oversight of institutions receiving public funding and cracking down on violations of the Civil Rights Act.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan raised concerns about national security threats posed by individuals advocating for the destruction of Israel, emphasizing the need for answers.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith detailed ongoing investigations into the nexus between antisemitism, tax-exempt universities, and terror financing networks.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer highlighted the need to follow the money trail behind radical protests targeting Jews, with a focus on exposing and holding accountable those funding hate.

The House-wide effort aims to combat antisemitism on college campuses and ensure that universities are actively working to protect Jewish students.
