Speaker Johnson has issued a statement following the Senate Republicans' passage of a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through September. The measure, which maintains current spending levels, aims to secure funding for the remainder of fiscal year 2025.

In his statement, Speaker Johnson remarked, "Republicans have again stood together to get the job done, this time to pass a CR that freezes spending and funds the government for the remainder of FY25." He criticized Democrats in Congress, claiming that "99% of Democrats in Congress voted to shut down the government—simply because they seem to hate President Trump more than they love America."

Johnson further accused Democrats of attempting to withhold paychecks from various federal employees and essential services. He stated, "Never forget that Democrats voted to withhold: the paychecks of our troops, border patrol agents, and TSA employees; health care and benefits for veterans; and essential services and programs—just to make a meaningless political point."

Concluding his remarks, Speaker Johnson asserted that while Democrats are allegedly using Americans as political pawns, Republicans are committed to achieving tangible positive outcomes for all citizens. "While Democrats try to use the American people as political pawns," he said, "Republicans are working to deliver real, positive results for everyone."
