Speaker Johnson appeared on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the Republican agenda and budget reconciliation priorities as the 119th Congress begins. He emphasized delivering on President Trump's mandate, which was supported by 77 million Americans, and the urgency of confirming national security nominees following a recent terror attack in New Orleans.

On the topic of budget reconciliation, Speaker Johnson highlighted its importance for fulfilling campaign promises: "We've made a lot of campaign promises, President Trump did as well, and reconciliation is the way to get it done." He outlined priorities such as securing the border, reviving the U.S. economy, preventing tax increases, incentivizing domestic manufacturing, reducing regulatory burdens, and restoring American energy dominance.

Discussing the mandate from President Trump’s supporters, Johnson shared that House Republicans gathered for extensive discussions on their agenda. "We're 15 days out from the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump for his second term," he noted. Johnson stressed addressing inflation dynamics that have affected American families: "The cost of living is out of control, and we know how to address it."

Regarding national security concerns after the New Orleans incident, Johnson emphasized quick confirmations for Trump's nominees: "New Orleans was a very sad and tragic reminder of that."
