Today, members of the House and Senate gathered in a joint session to count and certify the electoral college votes submitted by state officials from all 50 states. After concluding the count with a result of 312-226, Congress officially declared Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States.

Speaker Johnson issued a statement following the certification: "Today, in accordance with the Constitution, Congress met in a joint session to count electoral college votes and certify President Donald J. Trump’s election as the 47th President of the United States. In two weeks, President Trump will take the oath of office, cementing the greatest political comeback in American history. His landslide election and corresponding mandate from the American people dictate that Congress waste no time in delivering on the America First agenda, and we are prepared to hit the ground running."
