Speaker Johnson has addressed the release of an interim staff report by the House Committee on Small Business. The report follows an investigation into the Small Business Administration's (SBA) implementation of an Executive Order titled "Promoting Access to Voting." It also examines a Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement between the SBA and the Michigan Department of State, as well as allegations of partisan political activity within the SBA.
"The investigation led by Chairman Roger Williams and the Committee on Small Business has exposed not only the improper use of executive authority but also significant concerns about actions taken by an agency that may jeopardize the integrity of U.S. elections," said Speaker Johnson.
He emphasized a discrepancy between the SBA's main mission and its involvement in voter registration activities, underscoring a need for transparency and accountability. "The American people have a right to know how their tax dollars are being spent, especially when it involves actions that could influence elections," he stated.
Speaker Johnson expressed appreciation for the committee's efforts in holding the SBA accountable, adding that House Republicans are committed to collaborating with the Trump Administration to address what they view as misuse of government power under the Biden-Harris Administration.
Chairman Roger Williams from Texas commented on his findings regarding SBA activities: "The SBA was created to ‘to aid, counsel, assist and protect’ the interests of small business concerns. They have strayed so far beyond their intended mission as they have expanded their reach into registering voters."
Williams described evidence uncovered by his committee as alarming and harmful to Main Street America. He assured continued investigation using all available resources to stop what he considers abuse of taxpayer money.
