At a recent House Republican leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson discussed key legislative priorities, including the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), President Trump's first 100-day agenda, and the JUDGES Act.

Speaker Johnson emphasized the importance of supporting military personnel through significant investments. "We spent a lot of time and effort working on it because our servicemembers and their families deserve our best efforts. That's why we made the landmark investments in their quality of life, as you heard, with a 14.5% pay raise for junior service members," he stated. He also highlighted improvements in housing and benefits for military families and actions to stop funding for CRT in military academies.

With just over a month until President Trump takes office, Speaker Johnson spoke about the anticipation surrounding his administration's agenda. "Speaking of President Trump, we have just 41 days until his oath of office is taken. And as Whip Emmer said, there's a palpable sense out there that this is a new day in America," he noted.

The FY25 NDAA was another focal point of discussion. "You heard about the NDAA. We're proud of this product," said Speaker Johnson. The act includes measures such as blocking reductions in US special forces, supporting National Guard deployment at the border, expanding joint military exercises with Israel, and increasing funding for defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region.

Additionally, Speaker Johnson addressed upcoming legislation related to federal judgeships with the JUDGES Act. He remarked on its necessity due to growing caseloads: "It's been 35 years since Congress has authorized a package like this... More judges means more Americans can access equal and impartial justice without waiting years to get it."
