Speaker Johnson has issued a statement in response to a report from Chairwoman Virginia Foxx and the House Education and Workforce Committee. The report highlights issues of antisemitism on several prestigious college campuses across the United States, including Harvard, UPenn, MIT, Yale, Columbia, Barnard, Rutgers, Northwestern, George Washington University, UC-Berkeley, and UCLA.

Johnson's statement underscores concerns about how these universities have handled incidents following the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. He noted that "pro-Hamas encampments grew and were allowed to fester on college campuses," citing specific examples such as Harvard not intervening when students shouted antisemitic phrases and Northwestern's provost approving boycotts of Israeli products.

Further allegations include faculty at Columbia obstructing disciplinary actions against students involved in antisemitic activities and UCLA officials failing to address illegal encampments that allegedly endangered Jewish students' rights. Johnson criticized these institutions for violating laws and their codes of conduct by allowing such activities.

Johnson expressed gratitude towards Chairwoman Foxx for her efforts in bringing these issues to light. He emphasized that "today’s report will be an important tool for Congress to use as we reassess federal funding for higher education."

The full report is available for those interested in further details regarding the alleged failures of these universities to protect Jewish students from antisemitism.
