The House of Representatives has taken significant actions to counter the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This week, a series of 28 bills were passed, with 15 receiving broad bipartisan support. These measures aim to protect American interests, infrastructure, and intellectual property from perceived threats posed by the CCP.
“This week, the House passed a robust set of bills — 28 pieces of legislation that our committees have diligently worked on for months, including 15 bills with broad bipartisan support. These measures represent a strategic and coordinated approach that builds on the successes throughout this year to hold China accountable for its abuses, enhance our national security, and safeguard American interests,” Speaker Johnson said.
“From countering spy tactics within our borders to disputing unfair trade deals that hurt American workers, House Republicans standing for America’s interests while the White House has chosen to sidestep confronting the challenges posed by the CCP.
“But our work doesn’t end here. I am fully committed to advancing further legislation addressing China-related investments and other predatory practices. We will continue to push for measures that ensure our nation’s security in the face of growing threats.”
Among the key pieces of legislation passed are:
- H.R. 1398 – Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act of 2024
- H.R. 1425 – No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act
- H.R. 1516 – DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act
- H.R. 7980 – End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act of 2024
- H.R. 9456 – Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act of 2024
Other notable bills include:
- H.R. 8333 – BIOSECURE Act
- H.R. 2864 – Countering CCP Drones Act
- H.R. 554 – Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act
- H.R. 510 – Chinese Currency Accountability Act
- H.R. 7686 – To amend the Research and Development, Competition, and Innovation Act to clarify the definition of foreign country for purposes of malign foreign talent recruitment restriction, and for other purposes, as amended.

Additional legislative efforts focus on transparency in foreign communications (H.R. 820), reducing dependence on adversarial batteries (H.R. 8631), detecting fentanyl (H.R. 8663), subterranean border defense (H.R.7404), enhancing congressional notifications on science agreements (H.R.5245), economic espionage prevention (H.R.8361), among others.
