Speaker Johnson outlined his economic vision for America in a speech at the America First Policy Institute, addressing the impact of current economic policies and proposing a legislative agenda for a potential second Trump Administration. He joined Larry Kudlow, Chair of the Center for American Prosperity AFPI, for a fireside chat.

Johnson criticized the Biden-Harris Administration's economic policies, stating, "We’ve got too many hardworking Americans that are struggling to get by. They really are, the struggle is real." He highlighted rising grocery bills and increased debt among American families as key issues.

Discussing the Trump administration's economy, Johnson said, "During the Trump administration, we saw the greatest economy because government did less, not more." He attributed this success to domestic energy production, regulatory cuts, reduced bureaucracy, and tax code changes.

On promoting investment and opportunity in America, Johnson emphasized broad-based tax policy: "The smart approach is broad-based tax policy that unleashes the American entrepreneurial spirit." He proposed restoring immediate expensing for R&D costs and maintaining job creation incentives like guaranteed deductions and child tax credits.

Johnson also addressed prioritizing American interests over foreign dependencies: "Gone are the days of allowing China to steal our jobs," he said. He suggested using tax codes to deter illegal immigration and eliminate loopholes.

Regarding energy policy under Biden-Harris leadership, Johnson criticized Green New Deal regulations: "Under the Biden-Harris regime...we’ve seen Green New Deal regulations...which have made fueling up at the gas station...astronomically more expensive." He advocated rolling back these regulations to achieve energy dominance.

On education reform, Johnson called for maximizing school choice: "We can reform our education system by maximizing school choice for parents," he stated. He emphasized providing resources so children can thrive as productive citizens.

Finally, on fiscal responsibility, Johnson pledged to cut spending from initiatives like the Inflation Reduction Act: "We will cut wasteful Green New Deal spending...and root out waste within federal government," aiming for a leaner federal workforce and reduced scope of government operations.
