Today, Speaker Johnson released a statement as Chairmen Comer, Smith, and Jordan sent criminal referrals to the Department of Justice. The referrals recommend that Hunter and James Biden be charged with making false statements and committing perjury regarding key aspects of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
"False testimony to the U.S. Congress is a felony, and Chairmen Comer, Smith, and Jordan have compiled the evidence," said Speaker Johnson. "These false statements directly relate to the President’s involvement in his family’s foreign influence peddling, which is at the heart of the House’s impeachment inquiry. If the Attorney General wishes to demonstrate he is not running a two-tiered system of justice and targeting the President’s political opponents, he will open criminal investigations into James and Hunter Biden under 18 U.S.C. § 1001 (false statements) and 18 U.S.C. § 1621 (perjury), and he will announce it immediately."
