WASHINGTON — Speaker Johnson addressed the media following a failed motion to vacate his position as Speaker of the House. He expressed gratitude towards his colleagues for their support and dismissed the attempt to remove him from office as misguided.

"I appreciate the show of confidence from my colleagues to defeat this misguided effort," said Johnson. "As I’ve said from the beginning and I’ve made clear here every day, I intend to do my job, I intend to do what I believe to be the right thing, which is what I was elected to do, and let the chips fall where they may."

Johnson also commented on recent legislative efforts aimed at addressing antisemitism on campuses and securing American elections. "Last week, we announced a House-wide effort to crackdown on antisemitism on campus This morning, we introduced legislation to fortify American elections and ensure that only American citizens can vote," he stated.

The Speaker expressed hope that this event marked an end to personality politics and character assassination attempts that have been prevalent in the 118th Congress. He emphasized his commitment to conservative principles and highlighted several key areas of focus for his leadership including individual freedom, limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity.

"We need steady hands at the wheel. We need people who understand what made America the strongest, the most powerful, the most free, the most successful, and the most benevolent nation in the history of the world," Johnson declared.

In conclusion, Johnson reaffirmed his belief in America's potential and vowed to continue fighting for its future. "I believe in the goodness of America. I believe in the future of this country. And by God's grace, we'll save this country, and I'll keep fighting every day to make sure that happens."
