Unchanged number of students enrolled in De Soto Parish’s only school district in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in De Soto Parish had stagnant enrollment numbers in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 4,873 students in the halls of DeSoto Parish School District schools, unchanged from the year before.

Enrollment in De Soto Parish bucked the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 51.6% of the DeSoto Parish School Districts total enrollment.

DeSoto Parish School District has a main office in Mansfield and is the only school district within De Soto Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were either white (48%) or Black (37%) in the 2021-22 school year.
