The only school district in Caddo Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 34,850 students in the halls of Caddo Parish School District schools, 3.9% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Caddo Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.1% of them were boys, and 49.9% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 63.7% of the Caddo Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Caddo Parish School District has a main office in Shreveport and is the only school district within Caddo Parish.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
