During the August District Work Period, Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republicans promoted the One Big Beautiful Bill in Congressional districts across the United States. The bill is designed to provide economic benefits for American families and workers.

In Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District, Speaker Johnson took part in a panel discussion with local farmers to address how the bill supports agriculture and helps families keep more of their earnings. “Policy that is good for the family is good for the whole country. Family is the seedbed of society, and when you foster strong families, and you can make better economic opportunity for them and give them better educational choices,” Speaker Johnson said at an event in Louisiana. “These things are going to foster stronger communities. Our policies in the Republican Party are geared toward hardworking families, and the One Big Beautiful Bill is a good testament to that. It’s geared for hardworking lower and middle-income families, who will be the greatest beneficiaries of these collective policies.”

Speaker Johnson also addressed questions from business owners and local leaders about how the bill would affect Louisiana. He met with business owners and workers nationwide to highlight provisions such as no tax on tips and no tax on overtime, which he said would help millions of workers retain more income.

The Speaker joined CNN to respond to criticism of the legislation from Democrats and media outlets.

In Nashville, Johnson discussed the no tax on tips provision with bartenders. In Idaho, he met with a manufacturer to explain how the bill aims to reduce taxes on businesses.

Mike Johnson has represented Louisiana’s 4th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding John Fleming. He previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972, Johnson currently lives in Benton. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a BA in 1995 and earned a JD from LSU in 1998.

The promotion tour received coverage from various news outlets including LA Farm Bureau, Bossier Press Tribune, Ruston Daily Leader, KTBS, KNOE, KSLA, Fox News, East Idaho News, and KIFI.
