Speaker Mike Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, made several statements on social media regarding the state of the American workforce and government spending in early September 2025.

On September 1, Johnson expressed support for President Biden’s administration, writing, “Thanks to @POTUS, we’re in the GOLDEN AGE of AMERICA’S WORKFORCE!” (September 1, 2025).

Later that day, he highlighted Republican policies aimed at supporting American workers. He stated, “Plain and Simple: Republicans put AMERICAN WORKERS FIRST This Labor Day, thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill, hardworking Americans are experiencing the real, positive impacts of our pro-worker policies like no tax on tips and no tax on overtime.” (September 1, 2025).

On September 2, Johnson criticized Democratic policies related to federal spending and enrollment programs. He wrote, “Either Democrats RIGGED the system to give BILLIONS to illegal aliens or noncitizens & fraudulent enrollees – or – they didn’t care it was happening. Either way, it’s terrible for the American people. And the result: 2.3 MILLION improper enrollments $185 BILLION in waste” (September 2, 2025).

Johnson has served in Congress since replacing John Fleming in 2017 and previously held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972 and currently residing in Benton, Johnson earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University.
