Speaker Mike Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, has used his social media platform to highlight recent legislative actions and political developments involving House Republicans and President Trump.
On July 27, 2025, Johnson criticized Democrats and the media in a post on X, stating: “Democrats and the media have no credibility because they’ve lied so many times about everything from Russia collusion to Hunter’s laptop – so of course they’ll lie about Medicaid too. We are STRENGTHENING the program for Americans who need and deserve it by eliminating waste,”.
The following day, July 28, Johnson posted about recent Republican achievements: “America is BACK. In just six months, House Republicans and President Trump have delivered more than any team in modern history. This August, we’re taking the truth about all the RECORD SETTING SUCCESSES in the One Big Beautiful Bill directly to the American people”.
Later that same day, Johnson praised President Trump for securing a new trade agreement: “Another HISTORIC trade deal secured by President Trump! @POTUS continues to deliver for America and our workers by fixing trade relationships that have long been one-sided.”
Mike Johnson has served in Congress since replacing John Fleming in 2017. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972, Johnson resides in Benton and holds both a BA (1995) and JD (1998) from Louisiana State University.
