Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on July 16, 2025, highlighting recent developments in border security and drug enforcement policies.
On the morning of July 16, Johnson claimed significant progress at the U.S. border: “This is HISTORIC: lowest monthly illegal crossings ever recorded. We now have the most secure border in US history thanks to President Trump. The One Big Beautiful Bill provides the resources the administration needs to keep it that way.” (July 16, 2025).
Later that day, he addressed concerns about fentanyl trafficking: “Biden’s failure to secure the border allowed fentanyl to pour into our country, killing innocent Americans. The HALT Fentanyl Act will protect the American people by keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities. .@POTUS and Congressional Republicans are saving lives.” (July 16, 2025).
In a separate post on the same date, Johnson shared his experience meeting with supporters: “Enjoyed meeting these great patriots at the White House today “ (July 16, 2025).
Mike Johnson has served as a member of Congress since replacing John Fleming in Louisiana’s 4th district in 2017. Before his congressional tenure, he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972 and currently residing in Benton, Johnson holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University.
