Speaker Mike Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, criticized Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) between November 5 and November 6, 2025. Johnson addressed ongoing government shutdown issues and recent political victories within the Democratic Party.
The following day, he continued his criticism: “Republicans know this shutdown isn’t a game — there are no “winners.” That’s why we passed a clean, CR funding bill back in September — something Democrats supported 13 TIMES under Biden. Now Schumer and Jeffries are demanding we “negotiate” with them to open the government, https://t.co/fUsrMy8Yge”
In another post on November 6 regarding Zohran Mamdani’s political victory, Johnson stated: “Zohran Mamdani’s victory marks the BIGGEST WIN FOR destructive, dangerous, big government SOCIALISM in U.S. history — and a loss for freedom loving American people. He’s an unapologetic Marxist — fully EMBRACED by the Democrat establishment. Hakeem Jeffries ENDORSED him. Barack https://t.co/6TD50Puf0G”
Mike Johnson has represented Louisiana’s 4th District in Congress since succeeding John Fleming in 2017 and previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972 and currently residing in Benton, Johnson holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University.
