Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, used his social media platform this week to highlight Republican support for law enforcement and military personnel, while criticizing Democratic policies regarding police funding.

On May 14, Johnson posted on X: “This Police Week, the contrast couldn’t be more clear. Democrats are determined to DEFUND the police — putting our communities at risk, and turning their backs on the brave men and women who risk their lives for us every day. Republicans will ALWAYS BACK THE BLUE.”

Mike Johnson has represented Louisiana’s 4th District in Congress since replacing John Fleming in 2017. He previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972, Johnson is currently 51 years old and resides in Benton. He holds both a BA (1995) and JD (1998) from Louisiana State University.
