Speaker Mike Johnson, representing Louisiana’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently took to social media to express his support for the legislative initiative known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Johnson, who has been serving since 2017 after succeeding John Fleming, emphasized the significance of this bill in a series of tweets.
On July 2, 2025, Johnson tweeted that “As President Trump said, the One Big Beautiful Bill is not a House bill or a Senate bill, it’s a bill for the hardworking American people.” He highlighted that this legislation aligns with promises made by House Republicans and expressed eagerness to present it to the President.
Later that day, he further elaborated on its implications by stating that “The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers historic relief to American families.” Johnson warned against voting against it, suggesting such action would result in significant tax increases when existing tax cuts expire.
In another tweet on July 2, 2025, Johnson asserted that “The One Big Beautiful Bill is essential to enacting @POTUS’s AMERICA FIRST agenda.” He urged for prompt action on this legislation to ensure national safety and prosperity.
Mike Johnson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1972 and currently resides in Benton. A graduate of Louisiana State University with both a BA and JD, he has also served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017 before his tenure in Congress.
