Speaker Mike Johnson, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, posted several updates on his social media account this week regarding national security, legislative priorities, and state migration trends.

On January 3, 2026, Johnson addressed recent developments in foreign policy and military action. He stated, “I have spoken in the last several hours with @SecRubio and @SecWar Hegseth, and the nation will hear from @POTUS in his address at 11am ET. Today’s military action in Venezuela was a decisive and justified operation that will protect American lives. Nicolas Maduro is”.

Shifting focus to legislative matters on January 5, 2026, Johnson discussed ongoing efforts in Congress to advance fiscal year funding bills: “This week, @HouseGOP will advance the next set of FY26 funding bills and build momentum toward completing the annual appropriations process without a bloated omnibus bill. I commend Chairman @TomColeOK04 and the bipartisan, committee-led work to deliver full-year funding bills https://t.co/WhS7K2hDcg”.

Later that same day, Johnson commented on domestic migration patterns citing data from a moving company report: “The company U-Haul just released its yearly report showing more people are leaving California than ANY OTHER STATE – for the 6th year in a row. It’s EASY to see why. California has the highest state income tax in America — 13.3% — and now Democrats like @GavinNewsom are”.

Mike Johnson succeeded John Fleming as representative of Louisiana’s 4th district after winning election in 2017. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. Born in Shreveport in 1972, Johnson holds both undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University and currently resides in Benton.
