Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 4th district since 2017, recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing Republican priorities, workplace safety for women in Congress, and honoring law enforcement officers.

On May 13, 2026, Johnson wrote: “Republicans are laser focused. We don’t look to the right or the left — we charge straightforward. Republicans are for COMMON SENSE, and Democrats are for crazy. It’s as simple as that, and we’re going to continue reminding the American people of this every single day.”

The following day, on May 14, 2026, he addressed workplace safety for women working in Congress: “To state the obvious, all women should feel comfortable and safe working in the halls of Congress. As a father who has two daughters working on Capitol Hill — this is as personal to me as it is to anyone. I fully support the efforts of @RepKatCammack and @RepTeresaLF, the”

Later that morning, Johnson recognized Police Week with a message honoring law enforcement: “Police Week is a solemn reminder of the daily sacrifices and risks that our law enforcement officers and their families make to keep our communities safe. All Americans should honor their courage and service not just this week—but every day.”

Mike Johnson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1972 and currently resides in Benton. He earned both his undergraduate degree (1995) and law degree (1998) from Louisiana State University. Before serving in Congress starting in 2017—succeeding John Fleming—he was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017.
