Speaker Mike Johnson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Louisiana’s 4th district, shared his thoughts on recent events and issues through a series of tweets. Johnson, who succeeded John Fleming in 2017, addressed topics ranging from political violence to family values and immigration policies.
On June 14, 2025, Johnson expressed his condemnation of political violence, stating “Such horrific political violence has no place in our society, and every leader must unequivocally condemn it.” He extended his prayers to the Hortman and Hoffman families and the people of Minnesota during this tragic time.
The following day, June 15, 2025, he highlighted the significance of paternal support by tweeting “There is no more powerful force on earth than the love and encouragement of a dad.”
On June 16, 2025, Johnson discussed immigration policy by affirming House Republicans’ support for ICE officers. He stated “House Republicans are united behind our brave ICE officers and all those on the frontlines of the largest deportation effort in history.” He urged Congress to pass legislation providing necessary resources for border security.
Mike Johnson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1972 and resides in Benton. A graduate of Louisiana State University with both a BA (1995) and JD (1998), he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017 before joining Congress.
