This morning, Speaker Johnson appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box following the House’s approval of significant crypto legislation and a spending rescission, marking the first in 25 years. The discussion focused on how the House Republican economic agenda is benefiting American families.
Discussing the One Big Beautiful Bill, Speaker Johnson stated, “The reason we named it the One Big Beautiful Bill is because there’s so much in it for everyone.” He emphasized that this bill was crafted for lower- and middle-class earners in America. According to him, “We’re the working-class party, the Republican Party is, and we delivered for them.” Despite opposition from Democrats in Congress, Johnson highlighted historic tax cuts and savings that would result in an additional average of $13,000 annually for typical American families.
Johnson also shared his conversation with President Trump regarding the passage of the rescission bill. He quoted Trump saying, “Mike, we’re just winning. We’re going to continue to win.”
Regarding Jerome Powell’s role as Fed Chairman, Johnson expressed his opinion that interest rates should be reduced due to current economic conditions. He noted concerns about sectors like home ownership being affected by high interest rates.
On transparency concerning Epstein Files, Johnson advocated for maximum transparency while protecting victims’ identities. He said: “I believe people can draw their own conclusions about that but they have to have the documents.”
