Shreveport Police announced on Mar. 11 that a domestic disturbance early March 8 resulted in injuries to a 12-year-old boy on the 1200 block of Manor Place.

The case involves Janiyah King, who was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery after officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:19 a.m. The incident highlights concerns about child safety in domestic settings.

According to police, a witness told officers that King struck his younger brother in the head with an unknown object. The juvenile was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to Willis-Knighton South for treatment. Medical staff described the wound to the child’s temple as extremely serious, noting that if it had been half an inch deeper, it could have reached the skull.

During their investigation, officers located King inside the residence. She admitted she became angry when she asked the child to pick up one of her wigs and he did not comply, leading her to strike him in the head. Investigators believe a blunt object was used in the assault but are unsure how many times the child was struck. Officers also noted King’s significant size advantage over the victim.

The investigation remains ongoing and police say additional charges may be forthcoming. The child is expected to recover.
