On the evening of March 6, Shreveport Police responded to a fatal incident involving a pedestrian and two vehicles at the intersection of E. Dalzell Street and Youree Drive. Officers arrived at approximately 8:34 p.m., where Shreveport Fire Department personnel were already providing medical assistance to the victim.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the crash. According to initial findings, a vehicle traveling southbound on Youree Drive struck the pedestrian while he was in the roadway. A second vehicle, also heading southbound, then struck the individual as he lay in the road.
Crime Scene Investigators assisted at the scene to help confirm the identity of the victim. The department’s DWI Unit was present, and both drivers involved voluntarily provided blood samples as part of standard investigative procedures.
The deceased has been released to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office for further examination. Authorities have stated that no wrongdoing is suspected by either driver at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing.
In a statement, police emphasized concerns about pedestrian safety: “The Shreveport Police Department would like to remind the public that pedestrian safety remains a growing concern on our roadways. Pedestrians are strongly encouraged to use designated crosswalks and remain alert when crossing busy streets. Likewise, drivers should remain vigilant for pedestrians, especially along heavily traveled corridors such as Youree Drive.”
