Chairman Barry Loudermilk has introduced a resolution to establish a new select subcommittee for the 119th Congress. This subcommittee aims to continue investigating the events surrounding January 6, 2021. Once approved by the House, Rep. Loudermilk will chair this subcommittee as part of the House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan.

Speaker Johnson commented on the initiative: “House Republicans are proud of our work so far in exposing the false narratives peddled by the politically motivated January 6 Select Committee during the 117th Congress, but there is clearly more work to be done. The resolution introduced today will establish this Select Subcommittee so we can continue our efforts to uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people. House Republicans remain intent on delivering the answers that House Democrats skipped over.”

Subcommittee Chairman Loudermilk expressed his commitment: “I am honored to continue the investigation into the events surrounding January 6, 2021, and the failures that led to the breach of the U.S. Capitol… I appreciate Speaker Johnson entrusting me to continue this important investigation, and I look forward to working with Chairman Jordan and his team.”

Chairman Jordan also supported this move: “The partisan January 6 Committee failed to uncover crucial pieces of information for the American people, and Rep. Loudermilk has been the leader in getting to the bottom of the Democrat-run Committee’s failures.”

The House plans to consider this resolution after Members return from their August District Work Period.
