House Republicans have passed a series of bills to solidify former President Trump’s executive orders, focusing on protecting small businesses. Speaker Johnson commented on the legislation’s passage, stating that the Biden-Harris Administration had neglected Main Street America in favor of illegal immigrants and undermined trust in the Small Business Administration (SBA). “House Republicans continue to bring common sense back to government,” said Johnson.
Chairman Williams of the House Committee on Small Business highlighted the neglect faced by American small business owners under the current administration. “This week, we took a critical step in codifying President Trump’s executive orders and protecting small businesses,” he stated.
The legislative package includes H.R. 2987 – Capping Excessive Awarding of SBLC Entrants (CEASE) Act, sponsored by Rep. Bresnahan. This bill aims to limit non-bank SBLC licenses, ensuring taxpayer-backed guarantees are only provided to well-regulated institutions. “Small businesses deserve a reliable program that works for them,” Bresnahan said.
Another measure is H.R. 2966 – American Entrepreneurs First Act, introduced by Rep. Van Duyne. It seeks to prevent SBA funds from being accessed by foreign or undocumented entities and mandates verification of recipient ages. “I urge our Senate colleagues to quickly pass this important measure,” Van Duyne urged.
Additionally, H.R. 2931 – Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act was passed, led by Rep. Finstad. This bill aims to move SBA offices out of sanctuary cities as a response to public safety concerns linked with these policies. “This important legislation codifies two of President Trump’s pro-business executive orders,” Finstad noted.
House Republicans intend these measures to restore oversight and focus within government agencies while supporting American entrepreneurs.
