Speaker Johnson has announced that a bipartisan Congressional delegation will attend the inaugural Mass of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican. The delegation is led by Chairman French Hill (R-AR).
Speaker Johnson expressed his honor in sending the group, stating, “I’m honored to send this Congressional Delegation to attend the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV, the first pope from America. I’ve asked Chairman French Hill to lead this group during their faith-filled visit. May God bless Pope Leo’s papacy during this historic time.”
Chairman Hill also shared his sentiments: “It is a privilege to lead our U.S. House delegation to Rome for the inaugural Mass for His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV. As an American and a devout Catholic, it is an honor to represent the American people as we witness the continuity of faith and leadership that the papacy represents and to see the first American ascend to the Chair of Saint Peter. Around the world, Catholics are coming together in prayer and hope, and I look forward to celebrating this historic moment and offering my prayers for the new Pope as he begins his ministry.”
The members of the Congressional delegation include The Honorable French Hill, Nancy Pelosi, Rosa DeLauro, Michael McCaul, Joe Courtney, Mike Kelly, Ann Wagner, Nanette Barragan, Madeleine Dean, Stephanie Bice, Michelle Fischbach, Andrew Garbarino, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Jeff Hurd.
